Communications & Social Media Intern
Looking to build real-world experience in communications, social media, and community outreach? Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is seeking a motivated, creative, and people-focused intern to support our communications and engagement efforts across the agency.
In this role, you'll help manage UTA's social media presence, support community events, and engage with riders and the public to share information, answer questions, and gather feedback. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in public relations, social media strategy, and community engagement while working alongside a supportive team.
What You'll Do
Help manage and monitor UTA's social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, and the UTA blog)
Create and share engaging content about UTA projects, programs, and initiatives
Respond to questions and assist riders and community members online
Support UTA's presence at community events, including set-up and take-down
Help coordinate volunteers and maintain event supplies
Learn about community transportation needs and help share feedback internally
Stay up to date on social media trends and best practices
Internship Details
Full-time or Part -time internship (40 or 20 hours per week)
Duration: approximately 68 months
Evening and weekend hours may be required
What We're Looking For
Education:
Currently enrolled junior or senior at an accredited college or university
Majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Sociology, Community Health, or a related field
Minimum 3.0 GPA required
Experience & Skills:
Interest or experience in social media, communications, public relations, customer service, or event planning
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Intermediate experience with MS Outlook and Word preferred
Bilingual (English/Spanish or another language) is a plus
Additional Requirements:
Must submit a transcript and two letters of recommendation
Valid driver's license preferred but not required
Regular and predictable attendance is required
