JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the complete maintenance of light rail, commuter rail and FRA regulated track and related structures, including track inspection, scheduled repairs, emergency repairs, and preventive maintenance. Assigns and directs the activities of Rail Maintenance workers. Ensures that the staff hired or transferred into Rail Maintenance are qualified and trained in the proper methods, and that they perform their responsibilities in a safe, productive, and acceptable manner.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/TRAINING:Associates Degree with one business related class. EXPERIENCE: • Five years of experience repairing and maintaining railroad track and railroad track systems.
• Must be able to acquire track inspector certification within 30 days of start date
• Must be able to acquire and maintain CDL and DOT card.
• Must have a valid Utah Driver's License.
• Be a safe driver with no more than 4 moving violations in the past 3 years.
• Have no violations of driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug, or the combined influence of any alcohol or any drug within the last 10 years.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required to be successful in this job
KNOWLEDGE
• How to interpret drawings, plans and schematics related to maintaining the rail system.
• Principles of track alignment geometry and profile, track fittings, turnout, and switch appliances.
SKILLS
• Oral and written communication.
• Interpersonal relationship.
ABILITIES
• Pass a written qualifying exam.
• Get along and work closely with the rail maintenance crew on a daily basis.
• Successfully complete UTA's FRA Track Standards examination.
• Read and interpret drawings, plans and schematics related to maintaining the rail system.
• to work well with people, both internally and externally
• Preferred prior supervisory and leadership experience
• Preferred experience with electrified rail systems
Shift: Wednesday Saturday 9:00pm to 7:30am
